VMRO-DPMNE President Hristijan Mickoski repeated his demand for early general elections, as he arrived at the party congress in the “Jane Sandanski” sports hall in Skopje. Mickoski, who is the sole candidate for party leader today, said that the results of the local elections, which VMRO decisively won, point to the fact that SDSM no longer has mandate to rule the country.

VMRO-DPMNE is back on the winning track, VMRO-DPMNE has the biggest group in Parliament, is the biggest party in Macedonia, and has the most mayors and local council members. That is why we insist on early general elections. The voters need to be represented in the Parliament based on how they voted, and in the local elections, the voters opted for VMRO-DPMNE and for our coalition, Mickoski said.

SDSM is trying to preserve its slim majority coalition with DUI and a number of other ethnic and minor parties, even as its leader Zoran Zaev is leaving the helm of the party today and is preparing to leave the Government as well.

We face growing poverty, an energy crisis, there is no rule of law, crime and corruption are omnipresent, public healthcare is a disaster as is our education. Macedonia faces difficult, dark conditions in literally every direction. It’s time to put the country back on the winning track, Mickoski said.
