Ahead of the parliamentary leaders’ meeting, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski emphasized that constitutional amendments won’t proceed without a clear European trajectory. He clarified that the focus of the current meeting was solely on setting the dates for the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections, distancing the discussions from the topics of a caretaker government or constitutional changes.
Mickoski underscored their unwavering stance, particularly in response to recent statements predicting imminent constitutional changes. He firmly stated that until there’s a definitive European path and a substantial shift in the policies towards the Macedonian community in Bulgaria, constitutional amendments would not advance. He also hinted at significant political transformations in the near future, implying that certain politicians, including those making such claims, might fade from the political landscape.
Regarding a statement from a strategic partner, Mickoski highlighted the need for careful analysis of such remarks, refraining from commenting specifically on it. When questioned about potential election alliances involving opposition Albanian parties, Mickoski deferred the decision to SDSM, emphasizing that it’s their prerogative to select their election partners.
Expressing condolences, Mickoski extended heartfelt sympathies to the families of the recently deceased Vanja Gjorchevska from Skopje and Panche Zhezhovski from Veles. He also commented on the joint press conference held by the Minister of Interior and the public prosecutor, characterizing it as an information-rich session without concrete evidence.
