A new round of talks between the ruling SDSM party and the opposition VMRO-DPMNE party will be held on Saturday.

The talks are held to find a solution to the chaos surrounding the Special Prosecutor’s Office, after its chief Katica Janeva was arrested and dismissed on corruption charges.

SDSM and Janeva came up with a solution under which Janeva, from prison where she should be stripped of all authority, ordered that her case files are given to the OJO/PPO office of state prosecutors. VMRO-DPMNE considers this move as highly illegal and demands a jointly agreed and lawful solution.

More importantly, VMRO-DPMNE demands that the opposition appoints a prosecutor, leading a new unit that would replace the SPO, who would conduct a serious and thorough investigation into the racketeering scandal revolving around Janeva and top SDSM party officials. The opposition believes that the current OJO prosecutors investigating the case are actually trying to cover up SDSM involvement in the scandal.
