Parliament will have the final say in the matter when it passes the 2020 Census Law, the State Statistical Office said in a press release dismissing speculation that no ethnicity questions will be asked in the next census.
As preparations for the 2020 Census are underway, the Office has prompted a public debate regarding the survey questions, the release reads.
“The Office, being the only expert statistics institution authorized to conduct a census, has submitted several proposals, one of which was that the survey not include any ethnicity questions.
“This proposal,” the Office’s writes, “is part of the Draft law on the Census, which was publicly debated as well as submitted to all concerned institutions for further review.”
