Maja Trpkovska, who son Pino Secondo was murdered late last year and the body found only after a search lasting months, was arrested today while protesting in downtown Skopje. She says that the police moved on her after she started shouting the name of the country – Macedonia.
Trpkovska faults the police for failing to properly investigate the murder, which led to an agonizing search, and also allowed the murderer Ali Furkan to flee the country. Secondo was apparently killed due to a love triangle, and only the woman who was involved both with him and with Furkan was arrested.
I was arrested for shouting out Macedonia! Macedonia! This is a dictatorship!, Trpkovska said after her release.
She was protesting with two friends. The police said that they were arrested because they protested while an event was held to promote the US led military exercise Decisive Strike.
