Prosecutor Burim Rustemi asked that all future evidence submitted by the defense in the so-called Toplik case is rejected. Rustemi already had the court reject the evidence the defensed submitted so far, which raised concerns that the court is favoring the prosecutor who is one of the most involved in the persecution of former officials from the VMRO-DPMNE party.
The case refers to the sale of publicly owned land to an Israeli company that planned to build a residential development near Skopje.
The defense, which represents former Transportation Minister Mile Janakieski and other former officials, protested the favoritism of the court that frequently accepts the arguments put forward by the prosecution and rejects those of the defense.
