The ruling SDSM party refused to allow an oversight discussion in the Parliament after astronomical funds were paid for legal fees from the Skopje water utility company to lawyers close to the SDSM party.

The public company paid 77.000 EUR in legal fees to former intelligence officer Mile Zecevik, who is one of the most powerful advisers to Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.

Another SDSM official, former Justice Minister Meri Mladenovska, collected 50.000 EUR through her law office.

VMRO-DPMNE requested a meeting of the Finance Committee in the Parliament, to examine the allegations that SDSM is syphoning public money to lawyers close to the party. The request was rejected by the SDSM led majority.
