Skopje Mayor Petre Silegov announced that his main project for the second term he is seeking will be to build rapid bus transit lanes along the length of the capital Skopje.
The idea is controversial, because it would rip out the green belt on several main boulevards, and could potentially destabilize the main water supply pipes. The bus lanes would be in the middle of busy boulevards, leading to serious risks to the passengers.
