During her rally in Skopje’s western district of Gjorce Petrov, opposition presidential candidate Gordana Siljanovska – Davkova said that a win in the presidential elections will lead to early general elections.

Our win will mean that they also lose the general elections, Siljanovska told her supporters.
The Zoran Zaev led coalition refused to agree to holding early general elections along with the presidential elections, as this would’ve meant his resignation and opposition control over a number of important Government departments, to ensure the election is free and fair. The presidential elections do not lead to similar guarantees, and Zaev opted out an early general vote, but after making several promises and then backing out of them, he eventually accepted that a win for Siljanovska would mean that early general elections will have to be called.

Not content to take Zaev at his word, VMRO-DPMNE President Hristijan Mickoski announced that after Siljanovska’s win, the party supporters will remain in the streets until early general elections are called, and Zaev resigns.
