Prime Minister Zoran Zaev’s move to name himself Minister of Finance is unverified with international financial institutions, which are not irrelevant for the development of the Republic of Macedonia and Professor Trajko Slaveski believes that they will not like this move.

Slaveski said he did not believe that in five months Zaev will manage to revive Macedonia’s economy.

I still find Zaev’s statement that the Minister of Finance is being changed because 2019 is the year of the economy unclear. I do not think that, at least for the remainder of 2019, or five months, the economy will be revived if the Prime Minister takes the Minister of Finance post, Slaveski said on the “Top tema” show. The Vice Prime Minister of Economy was imposed as a frontman for economic policies, and should be vice versa. Always the frontman of economic policies in reform governments is the Minister of Finance. Now let’s not guess the relations of those two departments, because there is always competition, rivalry, etc. So we have yet to see the full picture. As public and as experts on personalized solutions we are not interested, everyone can be changed, but the consequences for the Macedonian economy, this will have negative consequences for the Macedonian economy, said Slaveski.
