Zoran Verusevski, the notorious secret police officer who was at the center of both the 2000 and 2015 wiretapping scandals, causing major political and security crises in Macedonia, has reportedly purchased an apartment worth 165.000 EUR in a luxury complex in Skopje.
According to the Netpress news site, Veruevski bought a 140 square meter apartment overlooking the Vardar river at the Park Residence complex, which was built illegally and was partially demolished only to be rebuilt by businessman and current Deputy Skopje Mayor Enver Maliqi.
As payback for his services in bringing him to power, Verusevski was appointed security adviser to now outgoing Prime Minister Zoran Zaev. He was recently paid more than 40.000 EUR in damages by a court for “unlawful imprisonment”, a payment which came shortly after he announced that the wiretapping scandal he engineered was based on “heavily modified” recordings.
