Macedonia will be shamed on the international stage by the type of people SDSM and DUI are sending as ambassadors, said the opposition VMRO-DPMNE party after the Government announced its plan to fill in some key diplomatic posts. It includes sending failed Tetovo Mayor Teuta Arifi to the EU, spy chief Viktor Dimovski to Paris and disgraced former Interior Minister Ljubomir Frckoski to New York.

The diplomatic service is being used to settle inter-party deals. Appointing Teuta Arifi, who left an urban and environmental mess in her wake, as ambassador to the EU is insulting both to the EU and the citizens of Macedonia. Zoran Popov, as ambassador to the US, and Viktor Dimovski, have no other accomplishments than being party loyalists, the opposition party said in a statement.
