Natasa Petrovska and Stefan Bogoev, the mayors of Bitola and Skopje’s Karpos district are being questioned about the widespread racketeering allegations which have shaken their SDSM party and prompted the resignation of Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva.
Petrovska will be questioned today while Bogoev met with the investigators yesterday. Along with many other SDSM officials, Bogoev is especially close to the arrested 1TV television owner and showman Bojan Jovanovski – Boki 13, who is suspected of acting as the main intermediary for Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva in their extortion of millions of euros from businessmen who faced criminal charges by Janeva. Bogoev’s father sits on the board of one of Boki 13’s charities and the young Mayor and rising SDSM political star would be frequently seen with Boki 13 at social events.
Petrovska, on the other hand, was allegedly pressured by Boki 13 and the group of SDSM officials operating with him. According to journalist Branko Geroski, she was asked to donate publicly owned land in Bitola to Boki’s charity, but refused.
