As the series of corruption scandals, concessions with national red lines and just mere blunders caused by the Zaev Government shows no signs of abating, professor Biljana Vankovska, in apparent exasperation, wrote that this is the most irresponsible Government Macedonia has ever had. Her comments come after Zaev was pranked for record three times by two Russian comedians who got him to disclose sensitive information and agree to perpetrate crimes by pretending to be Ukrainian President Petro Porosenko and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

It’s not a problem that he was duped. The bigger problem is that the Prime Minister speaks about the issue of his own political responsibility as if it is unimaginable science fiction. This is the most irresponsible Government with the weakest oversight and control instruments we’ve ever had. We are not entering irresponsible rule, we are in the midst of arbitrary governance that is completely out of control. Weak, with no legitimacy, what we have is rule by fear, Vankovska wrote on her Facebook page.

Zaev rejected out of hand any talk about his own responsibility in the prank calls scandal, during which he offered to give 100.000 EUR in bribes to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, offered personal help to “Porosenko” to expand his business in Macedonia and agreed with the idea that he should rig the September 2018 name referendum.
