The Executive Committe of VMRO-DPMNE warns that the ruling SDSM party is pushing Macedonia into an even deeper political crisis and is endangering the EU perspective of the country, after SDSM refused to allow the dissolution of Parliament on Wednesday. This endangers the early elections planned for April 12, and intrudes on the constitutionally provided 60 days period for holding elections. The latest excuse provided by SDSM for delaying the diussolution of Parliament is that it must adopt a new law on state prosecutors which will cement SDSM’s control over the judiciary before it dissolves.

The events in the Parliament, including the publication of an audio recording that proves that Zoran Zaev is behind the Racket scandal and knew about the extortion into minute details, shows us why the SDSM party is afraid of losing elections. Zoran Zaev fears what will come after April 12 and is pushing for an unconstitutional law that would lead to an amnesty of high level criminals, VMRO-DPMNE said in a press release, following the meeting of the party’s Executive Committee yesterday evening.

The largest opposition party demands that the elections are held as agreed, on April 12, and has threatened it will not return to Parliament until this is guaranteed.

This will mark the end of the political crisis and the end of Zave’s political career. The citizens demand a country based on the rule of law and respect for the laws and the Constitution, the party said.
