The World Macedonian Congress filed criminal charges against all the prosecutors in the disgraced Special Prosecutor’s Office, accusing them with unlawful prosecution and using inadmissible, illegal evidence for political purposes.
A total of 12 deputy prosecutors and the now detained Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva are named in the charges which the WMC has submitted to the OJO office of state prosecutors for consideration.
The defendants abused their office and entered into a criminal enterprise to conduct unlawful investigations and persecution based on evidence which were obtained unlawfully, the charges allege.
Another major violation of the law that is listed there is that the SPO continued to initiate criminal charges against defendants selected for their political ties or the success of their businesses even after the deadline set by law on June 30th 2017 expired.
The charge filed by the World Macedonain Congress detail numerous violations in the handling of the cache of wiretaps, which were made by rogue intelligence officers and given to the SDSM party to be used against the VMRO-DPMNE led Government. Over the course of the years, and especially in the last months, it became ever more clear that the tapes were modified, edited and taken out of context in order to create a political crisis and to bring down the elected Government in favor of an SDSM power-grab, which eventually led to the imposed renaming of Macedonia.
