Zoran Zaev is expected to have another meeting with Alternative party leader Afrim Gashi, to discuss their prospective coalition. Zaev currently does not have 61 votes in Parliament, and only narrowly survived a vote of no confidence, after the suspicious disappearance of an opposition member of Parliament. With the four Alternative votes, he would get to 64 votes.
Zaev resigned as SDSM party leader, and the party will elect a new leader in two weeks, but he still hasn’t activate his announced resignation as Prime Minister. He hopes to solidify the coalition enough to appoint his handpicked successor as SDSM leader – Dimitar Kovacevski – as Prime Minister, before he leaves.
