The letter by Special Public Prosecutor Katica Janeva regarding the transfer of Special Prosecutor’s Office cases is a logical step, resulting from the talks with VMRO-DPMNE and other circumstances, said Prime Minister Zoran Zaev on Thursday, stressing that the solution is to reach an agreement, according to which the cases should be handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

And if no agreement is reached, current legal provisions say that SPO cases should be transferred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The right of the Special Prosecutor is laid out in the Law on Public Prosecutor’s Office and the decision of the Special Prosecutor to hand them over is legally permissible. We have no contact with Katica Janeva to ask why she made this move, but it is obvious that September 15 is getting closer when her term ends and she cannot transfer the post to a deputy or to someone else. Probably for the safety of all the clues, materials provided there, so we don’t believe it will affect the negotiation process. I expect a breakthrough, tomorrow the working groups are set to meet, and if both parties are ready after the consultations, to continue finding a solution that could come by the end of the week, said Prime Minister Zaev.

Asked by a journalist about the “Racket” case, he said he had not been summoned for questioning by prosecutor Ruskovska.

I have not yet received an invitation from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and if I do, I will immediately inform the public, Zaev responded briefly.
