Zoran Zaev met with French Ambassador to Macedonia Christian Thimonier, who has voiced criticism of a number of failings of the Zaev Government, and whose country is the main obstacle to the asked for opening of EU accession talks in October. Zaev’s office said that he discussed his recent meeting with French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe in Poznan, where Zaev lobbied to get France to relent and allow the opening of accession talks.
– We are strongly committed to the practical implementation of all laws and reforms. Our determination, as a Government, is to work with dedication on the proposed law for state prosecutors. Efficient judiciary and fight against the corruption has been our goal, we are oriented toward Europe and expect to make a step forward in this direction in October, Zaev said.
Zaev’s office also said that he informed Ambassador Thimonier of his plans to increase wages and salaries, after he took over the Finance Ministry under his control.
