Macedonian Prime Minister, Zoran Zaev met Friday with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo following the Secretary of State meeting with Macedonian President Stevo Pendarovski.
Immediately afterwards, a bilateral meeting was also held when Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Radmila Sekerinska, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs, Bujar Osmani and Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov joined Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.
The main topic of the meeting was the projection for development of the cooperation between the two strategic partner countries, with special emphasis on the potential for further improvement of the economic relations and attracting new US investments in the country.
Special attention was paid to the successful cooperation and partnership in the field of defense, especially between the ARM and the Vermont National Guard, as well as within the ISAF and “Decisive Support” military missions in Afghanistan.
At a meeting between the government delegation and the US Secretary of State and his entourage, it was emphasized that strong and continued US support for finalizing the process of full-fledged NATO membership and the progress of the Republic of Macedonia in the process of EU membership remains.
The meeting also focused on issues related to the stabilization and prosperity of the region with Washington as the main promoter of the Alliance’s enlargement policy with the Adriatic Charter states.
