Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said that he will take the coronavirus vaccine to give a personal example to the public. During a press conference with Healthcare Minister Venko Filipce, Zaev said that a down-payment has been paid on the first batch of 833,000 vaccines.

When they arrive, I will take one, Zaev said. Filipce and President Pendarovski already made the same declaration.

Macedonia has an anti-vaxxer movement, and Filipce did a lot to contribute to it when he pulled a PR stunt in which he gave a measles shot to his niece. It was quickly realized that the needle has the cap on, and that the child is not even at the age where she should take the shot, and Filipce later acknowledged it was just a stunt move.
