The ruling coalition was unable to reach the majority it needs in the Parliament Commission on Appointments today, as BESA member of Parliament Fadil Zendeli sided with VMRO-DPMNE.
Zendeli would usually vote with Zaev – Ahmeti coalition, allowing it to move forward many of the appointments it wanted to push through Parliament. But his party, which is in the opposition, has been making closer contacts with VMRO lately, and it joins the call for early elections. This may complicate Zaev’s ability to appoint loyalists to positions across the country.
