Ohrid media have shared a picture of a huge Albanian flag being draped over Tsar Samoil’s fortress above the old city.

Four men have reportedly placed the flag on the historic fortress. It’s the second time such a nationalist provocation was reported in Ohrid, after 2013, when similarly a group of Albanians tried to drape the flag over the fort.

The incident comes a week ahead of the second round of the presidential elections, and the second round of the municipal elections in Ohrid. Tensions were already raised in the city as the Muslim community is building a minaret towering over the old city, without the approval of the city council.
