The State Electoral Commission published initial turnout data from the voting in Macedonian diplomatic missions abroad, where the elections take place one day ahead of the vote in Macedonia. Turnout there is calculated as percentage of the voters who registered to vote, and overall registration was exceptionally low – only about 1.800 Macedonian citizens living abroad registered to vote.
Voting in Australia is finished. With half an hour to go, turnout in Canberra was 38 percent and in Melbourne it was 57 percent of those who registered to vote. Total numbers of voters are in the double digits.
In Europe, turnout in the first five hours was highest in Budapest – 23 percent, followed by Bruseels with 18 percent and Zagreb – 16 percent. In Istanbul, only 3.5 percent of those who registered to vote, did vote. Voting stations in the United States will remain open 19h local time.
SEC spokeswoman Ljupka Guguceska said that there were no problems reported during the voting.
