The European Parliament (EP) confirms its support to visa liberalisation for Kosovo people, but some European Union member states worry about illegal migrations and adverse results in fighting organised crime, the FoNet news agency reported on Friday, citing the Pristina Koha Ditore daily.
The final decision depends on the EU Ministerial Council.
The EU Rapporteur for Kosovo Tanja Fajon said Kosovo was still the last black spot on the visa liberalisation map of the Western Balkans (WB).
“I asked why the Council of Europe (CoE) and the members’ governments did not keep their promise? We lose credibility as Europe, while Kosovo’s citizens lose hope,” Fajon said.
Earlier, European Commissioner for Migrations and Internal policy Dimitris Avramopulos has said Kosovo deserves visa liberalisation.
