Storms wreaked havoc in Australia’s southeast over Christmas and Boxing Day, claiming seven lives in Queensland and two in Victoria. In Queensland, a capsized boat tragedy resulted in three men’s deaths, while a missing woman and another lost during storms were found deceased. Tragically, a young girl was also discovered in stormwater drains. Additionally, a woman died due to a falling tree in Gold Coast. In Victoria, flash floods led to two fatalities. The states remained on alert, with Queensland facing possible further storms, while Victoria remained under flood watch after a wet holiday period.
