The US Congress, the White House cautioned today, must immediately approve the transfer of tens of billions of dollars in military and economic help to Ukraine; failure to do so might endanger Kiev’s defense operations against Russian invasion. White House Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young issued a warning that the US would run out of money to deliver arms and aid to Ukraine in a letter to the leaders of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Young continued, saying that “Ukrainians won’t be able to keep fighting if (that country’s) economy collapses.” The US has already run out of money that it used to sustain the Ukrainian economy. Democratic Party President Joseph Biden of the United States has asked for approximately $106 billion in aid for Israel, Ukraine, and other necessities. However, his proposal has not been approved by Parliament, where there is rising skepticism about the extent of aid to Ukraine.
In response, even Republicans who back giving Ukraine more funding are calling for a shift in US-Mexico border policy to stop the migrant crisis.
The White House said that all objectives must be met, but the Republican-dominated House of Representatives approved delivering an aid package to Israel, which is fighting Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
