Bulgarian authorities say they’ve prevented an Islamist attack that was being planned in the city of Plovdiv.
According to the BGNES news agency, a 16 year old man from the city was detained as he was attempting to put together an explosive device. The elements of the bomb are being analyzed.
The man was recently radicalized with Islamist propaganda. His family was not on a watch list.
Bulgaria suffered a major Islamist attack in 2012, when a bus transporting Israeli tourists in Burgas was blown up, with the driver and five Israelis killed. The attack was blamed on Hezbollah.
