Journalist Mijalche Ivanov and non-fiction author Nenad Georgievski were honored with the prestigious 2023 Mito Hadzhivasilev-Jasmin National Award during a ceremony held at Parliament, recognizing their outstanding contributions to journalism and nonfiction writing.

Zoran Bojarovski led the panel of judges responsible for selecting this year’s recipients. Georgievski expressed his gratitude for the award and pledged to persist in his endeavors aimed at enriching culture and society.

“I am deeply honored by this recognition and remain committed to furthering my contributions through new publications, books, and achievements,” affirmed Georgievski.

During his acceptance speech, Ivanov reflected on the decade-long tenure of his TV show, “The Road to Success,” and marked 25 years since the commencement of his journalistic career.

Expressing his aspirations, Ivanov articulated a vision of filming “The Road to Success” featuring a Macedonia liberated from pressures, characterized by freedom of expression and reporting.

“I eagerly anticipate the day when I can showcase Macedonia’s success through my show. A day where our country flourishes, unencumbered by restrictions, fostering an environment where freedom and expression thrive,” Ivanov articulated.

He conveyed his hopes for a Macedonia devoid of envy, emphasizing the importance of nurturing a forward-looking populace aligned with the right set of values.

Mito Hadzhivasilev-Jasmin, an esteemed Macedonian journalist, nonfiction writer, and political figure, held pivotal roles as an editor-in-chief at Nova Makedonija, the country’s oldest daily newspaper. He also served as the inaugural president of the Association of Journalists of Macedonia, established in 1946.

Following his passing in 1968, the annual journalism and nonfiction award in his honor was instituted in 1969, celebrating his legacy and honoring excellence in the field.
