Macedonian authorities placed the first sign “Open Balkan” on the Tabanovce border crossing with Serbia. Open Balkan is supposed to be a regional initiative for economic integration, initially between Macedonia, Serbia and Albania, and has the strong backing of the US in light of the badly delayed actual EU integration.
The sign marks the so-called Green Lane for trucks from the three countries, which can now move more easily, with less paperwork. Next week, such lane will be opened on the Kafasan border crossing with Albania.
