Arijanit Hoxha, who is Agriculture Minister in the Zaev Government, announced that today he will resign his position. This comes after the Zaev Government avoided a vote of no confidence by apparently keeping a member of Parliament hostage during the entire day yesterday.

Kastriot Rexhepi from the BESA party disappeared just as he was expected in the Parliament to join the other opposition parties and provide the key 61st vote to remove Zaev and Ali Ahmeti from power.

Hoxha, who is also from BESA and led the push to have that party leave the Zaev coalition, announced that he will hold a press conference today to proclaim his resignation. It’s expected that Zaev will try to bring another small Albanian party – Alternative – to support his coalition after the loss of the BESA votes brought him below the necessary 61 votes.
