Citizens of Debar vote today in the second round of their mayoral elections. They are the last municipality in Macedonia not to elect a mayor, because of issues at one polling station in the city.

The race is fought between candidates of the Alliance of Albanians and DUI – which held the city for several terms, but lost a number of important mayoral races in this election.

Some 40 citizens voted yesterday, when sick and elderly can vote in their homes. Almost 20,000 citizens are on the electoral list, but due to heavy emigration from the area, no more than 10,000 voters are expected.
