Two people were badly wounded by celebratory gunfire during a wedding in the village of Mala Recica, west of Tetovo. One of them is the son of DUI member of Parliament Xhevat Ademi.
Some Albanian language media outlets have reported that Ademi was the one who was firing in the air and mistakenly shot his son and another DUI party official, but family sources insist that it was “stray bullet” coming from elsewhere.
One of those who were shot was rushed to the Skopje clinics with a serious injury, while the other is cared for in Tetovo.
Celebratory gunfire is a common thing at Albanian weddings in Macedonia, and the summer is peak wedding season, as emigrants from Western European countries come to their native towns to get married.
