Large parts of the capital Skopje are left without electricity today. Reports of blackouts are coming from Centar, Karpos and Gjorce Petrov. Households say that they are losing power without prior warning.
The country is facing an energy crisis as the key REK Bitola plant was left without coal because of poor management of the mine. Attempts to purchase coal from Kosovo or Greece still haven’t yielded any results. The hydro plants are also out of service because of the low water levels caused by overuse during the summer.
