With the pressure exerted over the issue Greece has with Macedonia’s name, many social media users have turned to using flag emojis when talking about Macedonia. Deputy Foreign Minister Andrej Zernovski did the same today, as he wanted to express his gratitude to the Netherlands for its ratification of Macedonia’s NATO accession.

But, Zernovski got it wrong, using the flag of Yemen instead of the Dutch flag.

Gratitude to “Yemen flag emoji”, we have “French flag emoji” and “Spanish flag emoji” left. #WeAreNATO, Zernovski said in his comment.

It’s only the latest such gaffe of the Macedonian Government, whose diplomats frequently get flags mixed up, especially during welcoming ceremonies.
