In an interview with the Domovina news portal, Laris Gaiser, the journalist who published the tapes related to the “Racket” affair, reveals where he got the materials that stirred the Macedonian public. The Slovenian geopolitical expert and publicist said that a confidential source from Macedonia gave him some documents and videos that were enough to reveal the affair.

A confidential source in Macedonia handed me some documentation and videos showing that Special Prosecutor Janeva, with Prime Minister Zaev’s alleged knowledge, extorted the corruption suspect, assuring him that she could secure his release in exchange for EUR 8.5 million, Gaiser explains in the interview with the Slovenian news portal entitled “Will Prime Minister Zaev’s Macedonian government fall due to a Slovenian and his revelations?”.

He goes on to say that since he has been following the situation in Macedonia for years and seeing international networks trying to manipulate a sovereign state for their own interests, he decided to share the tapes with the public. Then, a month after the tapes were in the hands of the Macedonian prosecution and they did nothing, he entrusted the material to the Italian newspaper La Verita, with which he has been collaborating for a long time as a commentator on foreign affairs.

Many people ask me why I did this and I keep saying that I have been following the situation in Macedonia for years. Through my articles, I have always tried to help Macedonia avoid such humiliation, point out the wrong steps of the European Union in that country, and prevent international networks from creating Macedonia as a precedent for manipulating a country and its people. I am totally disappointed with the actions of the representatives of the European Union, whose aim should be ensuring the rule of law and respect for human dignity. My hope remains that through my reports and activities, I will be able to help to make sure that independent judges who respect the rule of law can explore further and help Macedonia move towards greater stability, Gaiser says.

According to the Slovenian who caused an earthquake on the political scene in Macedonia, its stability is also of interest to his country.

From the perspective of Slovenia and the growing migrant crisis and the changing geopolitical situation in the Balkans, it is clear to all of us that it is in our interest that Macedonia is a stable and functioning country. As Europeans, we have a duty to assist Macedonia on the road to security and development. Instead of artificially isolating her, we should help her on her road to the European Union, Gaiser says in the interview with Domovina.
