The state healthcare inspection office intends to fine and begin criminal cases against 1.100 parents who have submitted written declarations that they will not allow their children to be vaccinated.
About half of the families are in Skopje, with Strumica having the greatest share by population – 191 parents refuse to allow the vaccination.
The parents face fines of 500 EUR, and will be taken before the courts if they don’t pay. Their children will also likely be refused entry into state education facilities.
Trust in vaccination dropped dramatically in Macedonia, largely as result of several disastrous moves by Healthcare Minister Filipce.
