The leader of VMRO-DPMNE, Hristijan Mickoski attended Wednesday a workshop on women’s voice in the parliamentary group and professionalizing the work of women in the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia.

Mickoski shared photos of the workshop organized by VMRO-DPMNE in cooperation with the Conrad Adenauer Foundation on Facebook and wrote:

The debate over the role of women in politics is a step forward in the longstanding struggle for their rights and positions that are advancing. This debate is of particular importance in the Balkans, a place where the breakdown of stereotypes and prejudices is really needed, but also in a region where significant progress has been made compared to years ago. Conservatism is not a hindrance to positive processes but an initiator of preserving traditional moral values and virtues. VMRO-DPMNE fully recognizes and values the role of women, which is an important foundation in the comprehensive development of society, but also of our history.

VMRO-DPMNE is the first major political party to nominate a woman for President of the country. Ms. Gordana Siljanovska – Davkova is an exceptional person with strong character and integrity, thus proving that VMRO-DPMNE recognizes the importance and role of women in society. So we will continue in the future. I assure you that I will pay particular attention, once we have taken responsibility to manage the state, for women to be an active stakeholder in the renewal we are to bring, to have women ministers, directors, heads of institutions. Gender equality is not just a figure but a way of acting, Mickoski wrote.
