Police has arrested four officials and employees of the UBK – the main security service in the Macedonian Interior Ministry, on charges of embezzlement. According to media reports, these include people from the staff of former UBK director Saso Mijalkov, who was himself recently detained on one of the several criminal cases initiated against him by the SDSM led Government,

According to the charges, over 10 years, in over 170 occasions, the four men used 50,67 million denars from the UBK budget for various activities. The police now faults them of not preparing the full paperwork needed to justify the spending, and doing away with the receipts at the end of each year.

The four were detained today.
