The central government is trying to sabotage the projects made by the new local government from VMRO-DPMNE, in order to sabotage the party, but only the citizens, especially the youth, lose from that, said Sergej Popov, councilor in the Council of the City of Skopje and president of VMRO-DPMNE’s Youth Force Union (UMS) at Sunday’s forum where they talked about topics of importance to the young people.

We want to give young people a picture of the situation in the city of Skopje before and after. I want to tell the young people, and that is to be vigilant, to be loud, and whenever something is not right to criticize, because when we do not criticize and do not fight for anything better, we will not get it, said Popov.

He pointed out that yesterday there was a call for support of youth projects and initiatives from the City of Skopje and called on young people to apply to the public call in order for young people to be more active and create more.

Natasa Menkinoska, councilor from VMRO-DPMNE in the Municipal Council of Gjorce Petrov said that like every municipality, they found theirs with a lot of debts made by the previous mayor Aleksandar Naumoski from SDSM, and without projects for young people, something that is changing now.

There were no realized youth projects. We are working harder to change that. This is how I would mention the latest project for young people, it is the site “Krst” in Kuckovo, an area of about 5,000 square meters which will be arranged to be attractive for young people. Also, together with the City of Skopje, we are building the Mega Park. There was a landfill at that place which has now been cleaned by the new local government and a park will sprout which will be an attractive place for young people. We are also available for the young people from the municipality of Gjorce Petrov who write to us about the problems, and we solve them if we can, said Menkinoska.

Stefan Stefanovski, President of the City Committee of UMS of VMRO-DPMNE said that in the past years of the previous leadership there was no initiative to establish a local youth council at the level of the City of Skopje, but unlike the last four years, says that now the new leadership of the city is already taking concrete steps to involve young people to actively participate in project creation and youth policies.
