The State Electoral Commission (SEC) informs that turnout until 17h was 38.23 percent.

This is some 4 percent more than in the first round of the presidential elections on April 21st. With two hours to go, it also indicates that the electoral threshold of 40 percent will likely be reached and the elections will be considered valid. A turnout under 40 percent makes the elections invalid.

It is evident that the turnout threshold will be surpassed, said SEC President Oliver Derkovski.
In the first round, turnout by 17h was 34 percent.

Observer group MOST agreed with this numbers, and said that the turnout by 16h, by their estimates, was 34.8 percent.

Turnout remains significantly higher in ethnic Macedonian parts of the country, compared to the majority Albanian parts, reflecting the fact that both remaining candidates are Macedonians, and the high levels of emigration by Albanians.

Makedonski Brod and Kriva Palanka had turnout rates surpassing 61 percent, levels indicative of general or municipal elections. A list of majority Macedonian cities and towns, like Krusevo, Demir Kapija, Pehcevo, Sveti Nikole, Berovo and Dojran, had turnout rates over 50 percent.

Lowest turnout municipalities are all majority Albanian – Aracinovo, Bogovine, Gostivar and Lipkovo.
