VMRO-DPMNE lawmakers will submit amendments to amend the Law on the Use of Languages and its harmonization with the recommendations of the Venice Commission, said MP Dragan Danev on Tuesday.
Danev urged SDSM to support VMRO-DPMNE’s amendments but did not specify what the opposition party’s proposals would contain, only said they were being prepared and that the amendments were expected to be submitted by VMRO-DPMNE MPs from the current parliamentary composition.
He recalled that even when adopting the Law on the Use of Languages, they indicated that it was contrary to the Constitution and beyond European standards. Respect for the Venice Commission’s remarks, Danev said, is an obligation for our country.
Danev also urged the ruling party to accept VMRO-DPMNE President Hristijan Mickoski’s proposals to pass a law banning amnesty for politicians, as well as banning persons who were pardoned to deal with politics.
