Tetovo Mayor Teuta Arifi is not being considered as the next Macedonian ambassador to Washington, said outgoing Prime Minister Zoran Zaev. Arifi is seen as a strong SDSM party supporter in her native DUI party, while at the same time a relatively incompetent Mayor of Tetovo, and was widely rumored to be trading her position for the diplomatic mission in the US.

We never discussed Teuta Arifi, Zaev said.

The Foreign Ministry made two dozen nominations but D.C. was not among them. It is just one of the important diplomatic missions which are left unfilled.
