Prime Minister Zoran Zaev used Twitter to send out a partial apology for the shocking statement he made this afternoon, in which he threatened a journalist who is reporting on crimes that cut close to his Government, and referred to the chief suspect in the racketeering case Boki 13 as a “faggot”.

Zaev’s apology concerns only the LGBT community, but he ignored a request from the journalist, Branko Geroski, that he explains whether he is threatening him for his reporting.

The LGBT community has my utmost respect. This is why I apologized to them before using the word “faggot”. I used the word to refer to a character trait, and not to denote sexual orientation. Apologies to the LGBT people. I will fight for their rights as before, Zaev tweeted.

The word he used for his former close associate Bojan Jovanovski – Boki 13 is the worst slur available locally for homosexuals. Boki 13 is a showman who frequently cross-dressed in reality shows before starting a lucrative “business” career, opening a TV station shortly after Zaev’s power grab. It is now being reported that Boki 13 used his ties with the Zaev Government to extort millions from businessmen threatened with criminal prosecution by Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva.
