Zaev’s Government issued a press release congratulating the public on the ratification of the deal to rename Macedonia in the Greek Parliament. According to the press release, the so-called Prespa deal will help development in the region.

We congratulate on the peace, progress and development which this agreement will bring and we encourage you to intensify ties and friendship. The Balkans, Europe and the World now have a new model to build friendship and cooperation between nations and countries, the Government said about the deal which was rejected at the September 2018 referendum and was subsequently rammed through the Macedonian Parliament with pressure and blackmail of representatives.

The deal renames Macedonia into North Macedonia, and opens the way for Greek historians and politicians to rewrite Macedonian history books, while imposing fines on Macedonian citizens who would criticize it or Greece.
