The Council of Public Prosecutors is poised to designate an interim chief public prosecutor this Friday, stepping in for the outgoing chief prosecutor, Ljubomir Joveski, whose term concludes on Monday.

The interim appointee will assume responsibility until the selection process for a new chief public prosecutor, already in progress, concludes. Presently, three candidates—Fatime Fetai from the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Skopje, Lidija Raichevikj from the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Skopje, and Ljupcho Kocevski from the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Macedonia—have submitted their candidacy for the role.

Furthermore, during a session on Wednesday, the Council of Public Prosecutors made decisions to appoint prosecutor Lile Stefanova to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Macedonia and Naum Panovski to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, both significant appointments. Stefanova previously served in the now dissolved Special Public Prosecutor’s Office (SJO) and is currently handling the active case known as “Titanic”.
