Numbers keep increasing: Death toll rises to over 16,000 In Turkey, Syria quake

The death toll from the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria has risen to more than 16,000, while rescue teams are still searching for survivors trapped under the rubble.

Officials and medics said 12,873 people had died in Turkey and 3,162 in Syria since Monday’s 7.8-magnitude quake, bringing the confirmed total death toll to 16,035.
