Ukraine turned down the Russian ultimatum that its soldiers in the besieged city of Mariupol lay down their arms and leave the city for Ukrainian held territory.

Russia claims that dozens to a few hundreds civilians are killed in the street fighting every day, and offered the Ukrainian troops, which include the hardline Azov battalion, to leave. Several hundreds thousands civilians are still in the industrial port city.
