Albanian police informed today that the country narrowly avoided a well planned terrorist attack that was supposed to occur on Nowruz, the Persian New Year.
The attack, according to the Interior Ministry, was planned by Iran, and its notorious Quds force. Police chief Ardi Veliaj gave out the names of the allegedly involved terrorists.
By request from the United States, Albania houses several thousand members of the Iranian opposition group MEK. This, reportedly, put the country on the Iranian cross-hairs.
The Albanian opposition reacted with skepticism about the report, insisting that it’s a move by Prime Minister Edi Rama to deflect the public attention following his humiliating failure to win approval to open EU accession talks.
