An Independent story, revealing how Albanian intelligence mistakenly published the names of its secret agents in neighboring countries, raised alarm in NATO whose covert actions were also affected.
Albanian intelligence published names, ID numbers, ranks, travel details, and even vehicle details of its agents online. The detailed documents made public under an over-zealous public information act, even included details about agent activities such as withdrawing money. As part of the financial oversight of the SHISH agency, the documents were added to the financial disclosure form of the agency, and then published by the Finance Ministry.
This revealed that Albania has agents in Macedonia, Kosovo, Italy, Belgium, Greece and Serbia. The revealed names are: Ferdinand Nuku, Kujtim Prifiti, Robert Tuci, Nestor Babameto, Nevzat Shehu, Astrit Kinani, Tonin Prendi, Bardok Gega and Hazbi Brahja. Among the revealed information is the identity card of SHISH director Helidon Bendo.
